Do kolekcji „pakietów” – wielkiej grupy linii autobusowych przewidzianych do obsługi przez jednego (jedynie słusznego) przewoźnika należy także pakiet będziński. Minęły cztery lata od poprzedniego przetargu, umowa dobiega końca, więc KZK GOP ogłosił kolejne postępowanie. Zasady są podobne jak poprzednio – wszystkie linie w jednym postępowaniu, jedynie wymagania taborowe odrobinę się zmieniły.

Od września 2009 r. po likwidacji tramwaju w Gliwicach, na granicy Zabrza i Gliwic pasażerowie zmuszeni są do przesiadki z tramwajów linii 1 i 4 na autobus linii A4 lub odwrotnie. Początkowo mogli kontynuować podróż na tym samym bilecie jednorazowym, od pewnego czasu muszą jednak kasować dwa bilety.
